Future earthquakes could inflict the severest shaking and greatest damage on a densely populated area of Southern California that stretches from the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles to the wealthy suburbs of Orange County, according to a study Tuesday."We find that the area extending from approximately the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (in downtown Los Angeles) down toward Anaheim, centered in a long, trough-like fashion, is an area where we'll probably having the most extreme shaking in future earthquakes," Thomas Henyey, the study's lead scientist and director of Southern California Earthquake Center, said.
