Seismologists and geologists here are found to be sceptical towards the prediction made by University of Madras scholar N Venkatanathan that a major earthquake of the magnitude of 7 to 8 on the Richter scale would rock the State tomorrow and it would occur at 8-21 am 15 km southwest of Dibrugarh. Noted seismologist Dr Suryakanta Sarma said that the methods used by Venkatanathan were not used while predicting earthquakes.
