Sea of protests at Thoothukudy port

In fresh protests, the Peoples Movement Against Nuclear Energy agitating against the Koodankulam nuclear plant, plans to lay siege to the Thoothukudy port Saturday. Fishing villages from Kanyakumari to Rameshwaram will send 10 boats each for the seaport blockade. Women and children will form human chains along the coast in their villages, while men will conduct a rally in the sea with fishing boats. Fishing has been stopped in the region after the recently intensified agitation. PMAENE leader S P Udayakumar said neither the state nor the Centre is ready for a talk with the agitators. "Hence, we have decided to take the agitation to other parts of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
