Seer expresses concern over maili Ganga

Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Saraswati lamented the pollution in Ganga and said that if the erroneous policies of the Centre and the state govenment continued the Ganga would not survive till the next Kumbh. "The water in the Ganga is unfit for 'achman' and the saints and seers as well as lakh of devotees have to bathe in the polluted water that is nothing but the effluent of the tanneries and the sewage of the cities", he said. Following this, a large procession of dozens of tableaux, decorated elephants and horses accompained by the band parties playing tunes of bhajans, came out on the steet of Johnstonganj area. Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Saraswati led the procession of foot.
