Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has called upon state governments to enhance technical expertise of civil engineers and construction personnel in design and construction of earthquake resistant buildings. Inaugurating a three day training programme on "mitigation measures and preparedness for earthquakes design and construction of earthquake resistant buildings and structures,' organized by the Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council (BMPTC), Ms Selija suggested that model demonstration units should be built in every city.
