Selling drinking water is not Govt policy, says Minister

KOLLAM: Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran said that selling drinking water was not the policy of the Government.
Inaugurating a revenue adalat organised by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) at Jalabhavan here on Monday, he said that the money collected from the water consumers was just the cost of electricity, water treatment using chemicals and the cost required for bringing water to the customers house. He said water would not be considered as a selling commodity.
In order to understand the problems of the consumers, social audits will be conducted besides the revenue adalats. The Government is open to criticism and KWA
