Seminar on strategies for green architecture

On the fifth-day of the seminar on Sustainable Strategies for Green Architecture held in the Energy Centre of MANIT on Friday, the session begun with a lecture from Lovleen Garg, who is a senior manager of the Navi Mumbai SEZ project. An expert in the field of environmental planning, Garg concentrated on policies for green architecture, like green credits. He discussed sustainable planning of cities in the modern context, covering Indian cities like Gwalior and Jabalpur. He mentioned the energy cycle and issues such as global warming. The second lecture was conducted by Dr RK Pandit, a professor from MITS Gwalior, who is an expert on Green Architecture. His first lecture was on economics of sustainable building, the life cycle and expectancy of buildings and the economics of environmental planning. He emphasised on recycle and reuse, and discussed various economically viable strategies for sustainable architecture. In his second lecture, he discussed soul and scapes of land and mentioned how an architect plays a role in the sensitivity of architecture towards the environment. In his third address, he suggested futuristic trends in Architecture , such as Buildings that are 500 stories high and how they can shape the future of technology. He concluded with features of bio-architecture and how it benefits the environment.
