The 3-day national seminar on "Mangrove Ecosystems Dynamics of Indus Delta", concluded in Karachi recommending that full protection be provided to forests and steps be taken to change their legal status from protected to reserved forests. It pointed out that magrove forests with the Sindh Forest Department were declared as protected forests in 1958 under Forest Act, 1927. As a result the people had many rights in these forests which resulted in their depletion over the years.
