Faced by the wanton destruction of forest cover in their region to make way for 'development projects', the Baigas, an adivasi community, have come together to spearhead a movement to 'protect the biomass' in the Dindhori district of Madhya Pradesh. Over the last fifty years, massive deforestation and a falling water table has pushed the district into the fringes of desertification.
