The petitioners' who filed a PIL that led to the Supreme Court forming a nine member expert committee to look into the Red Fort's restoration, now say there is an urgent need to have a centrally-empowered committee on heritage. "Legislation does not have much teeth. What we need now is a centrally-empowered committee to look into heritage conservation. That is when the abuse of tangible heritage will stop'.
