The Chief Minister, Mr. J.H. Patel, today rejected the demand of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly to constitute a House committee to go into encroachment of forest land in Chickmagalur district allegedly by the President of the State Janata Dal, Mr. B.L. Shankar, among others. He said that Mr. Shankar had not committed any offence attracting the provisions of the Forest Act.
