Sheila seeks Centres intervention to develop National Capital Region

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today sought the intervention of the Centre and cooperation of the neighbouring states for implementation of various schemes and major project for the welfare of people in the Capital and the region surrounding it.Speaking at the 51st meeting of the National Development Council (NDC), Ms Dikshit said that as per the Yamuna Water Agreement, 1994, Delhi could get its share of 0.724 Billion Cubic Meter of water only after construction of Renuka Dam in Himachal Pradesh, Lakhwar Vyasi and Kishau reservoir in Uttranchal.Keeping the precarious position of raw water availability for making potable water, in the Capital city, it was imperative that these water projects were completed in the shortest possible time, she stressed.
