Frequent cuts in power supply are due to less availability of electricity in entire northern region, but the situation is likely to improve in the coming days, said sources in Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) here today. The DHBVN authorities said due to sudden increase in temperature in the entire northern region, the demand for electricity has increased and the available sources of generation were not able to cope with the power requirement. As a result of a wide gap between the demand and supply in the entire northern grid, the system frequency was continuously reeling below 49 Hz and overdraw from the grid has been strictly prohibited by northern region load dispatch centre. The requirement of districts under DHBVN area was 375-380 lakh units per day, but availability was 280-300 lakh units.
