It's one of Shuklaphanta's least reported secrets. In 1983, officials at the national park persuaded families to move out of their land as they vigorously pursued the park's extension programmes. Fifteen commissions have been set up since to compensate the locals who lost their land holdings to the park. Sixteen years on, the locals still await justice.
