Sikkim has recorded a area of the state, a report published by the government report PTI. There was a net increase of 479 sq. Km in forest cover till 1997- which amounted to 6.75 per cent of the total geographical area, the report of the state's Forests, Environment and Wildlife department for 2001-02 said.
