Sissos are fast dying out in Terai districts

During the mid 1970s people in the southern plains of Nepal rushed to plant sisso trees and reaped mega profits by selling wood in the market. But nearly two decades later now, dreams of quick return are shattered as mysterious disease is fast eating away these trees from its roots as the people charged with finding and eradicating the disease sit idle with no money for research.
