The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with six Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to generate 12 MW of power from solar energy with an investment of about Rs 240 crore. The MoUs have been signed with RS India Wind Energy, New Delhi, and Astonfield Renewable Resources, Kolkata, for setting up solar power projects of 3 MW capacity each; with Epuron Renewable Energy, New Delhi, and Azure Power India, New Delhi, for setting up projects of 2 MW capacity each. The investment in the projects with RS India Wind Energy and Astonfield Renewable Resources would cost about Rs 60 crore each and with Epuron Renewable Energy and Azure Power India, about Rs 40 crore each. The signing of the MoUs will help the state Government to harness its abundant solar power generation potential, said Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was present when the MoUs were signed. The firms would prepare detailed project reports within two months and the projects would be implemented and commissioned by December 31, 2009. In addition to these, MoUs had also been signed with Omax Auto, Gurgaon and Selecto Systems, Faridabad, for setting up solar power projects of one MW capacity each. These projects are special cases as in these, use of land was not involved and the energy would be harnessed through rooftop installations.
