The mini hydel projects, with a power generation capacity of upto 10 MW, are coming up in the remote areas of Durbuk, Nubra subdivisions and two villages of Markha valley of Leh under the Ladakh Renewal Energy Development Initiative, a project sponsored by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The 475-crore renewable energy project was started for its implementation in Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region for both the civilian and defense personnel to promote renewable energy in the region.
Jigmat Takpa said Rs 133 crore, under the Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative, had been sanctioned to execute 22 mini hydel projects in rural areas of the district to convert diesel generated power to renewable energy feed power supply.
