Slogans fail to help the poor

No one will be surprised by the now customary anti-globalisation protests that are certain to coincide with the Group of Eight heads of state summit in Genoa. But we should all be alarmed when political leaders start to adopt the protesters' tactics, using bogus sloganeering rather than logical argument regarding assistance for the world's poorest countries.
