Slow and steady rain is ideal for harvesting

It's come late but it's perfect. The low-intensity but consistent rainfall that Delhi has been receiving since Monday is ideal for recharging depleting groundwater levels, since the runoff is much less then in short, heavy showers, say experts. 'In the last two days, the city received about 65 mm of rain over its area of 1486 square kilometres. Even if 60 per cent of this water reaches aquifers, it'll yield 54 million litres', Eklavya Prasad of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) said.
