Invaluable sal trees from north-eastern part of this Terai district are being felled down and smuggled to the neighbouring Indian markets by timber smugglers in connivance with forest officials, a report here said in Nepal. Sources said timber smugglers have cut down more than 5,000 sal trees in neighbouring forests of Kalphanta and Narainapur VDCs, situated about 45 km northeast of the district headquarters.
