The recent seizure of the truck-load of resin, which was being illegally transported by the smugglers of timber and forest products in Jammu by Forest Protection Force (FPF), is not an issue which should be dismissed casually. The FPF needs to gear itself up to check the activities of the smugglers not only within Jammu and Kashmir but also outside the state where these products are sold. Surprisingly, during the last one year only one consignment of resin has been seized by the authorities while the reports of continued smuggling of forest products have been pouring in unabatedly. Such seizures have been made only when a concerted effort has been made by the concerned authorities and in routine such activities have been going on round the year without any check...editorial
