The Jammu and Kashmir Government has wound up the social forestry project in the forest department. Plantation assignments of the social forestry project would now be looked after by the forest department's territorial wing, a government spokesman said. He did not give any reasons for the winding up of the project. "The forest department shall now be also responsible for plantation in degraded forests and reclamation of forest lands," he said.
