Forest (Amendment) Act 2000 passed in April 2000 by the Bangladesh Parliament and the Draft Social Forestry Rules 2000 to be passed on July of this year were termed as "anti-people, anti-environment and anti-national interest" by environmentalists and indigenous people at a workshop held in Dhaka.
