Solar project to supply 12-hour power to farmers

NASHIK: In a first, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday launched a pilot project that seeks to provide 12-hour power supply to 600 farmers in Ralegan Siddhi through 2MW Solar Agriculture Feeder Project.
The project is built in a PPP (Public Private Partnership) between State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL) and Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) at the cost of Rs 6 crore.Launching the project, Fadnavis, said, "The government has decided to power agriculture only through solar projects.We have set a target of raising 435 MW through solar power projects in the villages with the aim of cutting down transmission costs."
