Solar water heating system inaugurated

DIBRUGARH, Sept 24: The Deputy Commissioner of the district, Ashutosh Agnihotri, inaugurated the solar water heating system here recently. The 2000 litre system has been installed by the management of Aditya Diagnostics and Hospitals as part of its corporate social responsibility. In a statement to the press, the hospital authorities said that the chief aim of the undertaking was to contribute towards saving the environment. They further said that the use of the system for just 200 days in a year would save 17,000 kWh of electricity and if the cost of per kWh was pegged at Rs 6, the monetary saving would be Rs 1.02,000 per annum. The hospital has applied for government support of Rs 2,40,000 against the Demonstration Scheme of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for the states in Northeast, Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim. Under the scheme, the ministry provides support to the extent of Rs 6,000 per sq meter of the installed collection area in order to encourage and popularize the use of solar water heating system.
