Soon, quality healthcare at 8 govt hospitals

Imagine visiting a government hospital that can give your average high-priced private hospital a run for its money in cleanliness, has a staff who is amicable and safety of patients is not compromised at the drop of a hat. This is all set to be reality. For the first time in the country, eight government hospitals in the city have started the process to acquire quality control certification. And if things are on course, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya (CNBC) at Geeta Colony, a relatively little-known paediatric hospital in east Delhi could actually go on to become the country's first government hospital with a quality control certification. For the average patient, this could mean a complete turnaround in the government hospital experience. In December last year, the Delhi government had signed a MoU with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to make all hospitals and medical institutions under the Delhi government to attain the quality standards of the National Accreditation Noard for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) within three years.
