In an attempt to ease the water woes of Thaneiites, a proposal for additional water supply from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) was passed in the General Body Meeting of the Thane Municipal Corporation last week. The proposal for getting 60 MLD of water was backed by the Opposition after corporators from both the ruling combine and the opposition brought this issue for discussion in the General Body Meeting (GBM). The proposal has thus cleared way for the TMC authorities to have a formal talk with the NMMC officials for getting additional water supply. Currently, Thane gets 370 MLD water jointly from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the MIDC, and the Shahad Temghar water project
