The much tormented trees in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh might soon receive some succour. The Municipal Corporation has decided to launch a special campaign for protection of trees. Municipal Commissioner Navin Mittal said that though the trees in the Visakhapatnam city had to be protected under the Water, Land and Tree Act, the corporation was till now concentrating on planting and preventing felling of trees. At the same time, many were ignorant of the fact that nailing boards and other objects to trees was harmful, which was why the brutality went on unabated.
