The Haryana Government will provide adequate potable water facilities in 12,434 government schools under a special drive. The Public Health Minister, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala, said today as part of the drive, Rs 550 lakh had been allocated during 2006-07 for strengthening the water supply system in the schools. It had also been decided to construct underground water tanks in each school. Besides the electric connection, a hand pump would also be installed on each tank to enable the students to get drinking water even when power was not available, he said.
