The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) will promote spice tourism at Thadiyankudisai in the Kodaikanal block of Dindigul district. The campaign will be implemented with a financial support of Rs.70 lakh extended by the Union Tourism Ministry and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Scenic surroundings Commissioner of Tourism and TTDC Managing Director M. Rajaram said the reason for choosing Thadiyankudisai was that it would attract more tourists, since it was another route to reach Kodaikanal from Dindigul. Furthermore, it boasted of easy accessibility and scenic surroundings with spice gardens. The biodiversity of the place had been documented, he said. While the UNDP will provide Rs.20 lakh, the Union Tourism Ministry will chip in with Rs.50 lakh. The project will be implemented with the help of SPACE, a non-governmental organisation. The block development officer of the Kodaikanal panchayat union has also agreed to lend a helping hand through the rural development programme.
