Barpeta district administration organised a health mela on the Pashehim Paka Azad Memorial High School premises in Bhaktardaba from April 6 to 8 last. The mela was recently inaugurated by Minister of Agriculture Pramila Rani Brahma. In her inaugural speech, Brahma stated that the present government in the State led by Tarun Gogoi has taken special care for the healthcare of the backward areas of the State and it has taken keen interest to provide this essential service at the cheapest rate as well as to make them aware of the healthcare. She claimed that the introduction of National Rural Health Mission in the State is the result of special initiative of Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. She also disclosed the government's plan to establish Health sub centre, dispensary and PHCs in the remote backward areas where there is no kind of facility of health service till now. Referring to Barpeta district, Brahma told that the Chief Minister is interested in including Barpeta in the development agenda and the decision to establish Medical College here is the result of this positive thinking "The government has taken into account the sufferings of the common man and introduction of Antodaya, NREGA, etc Vindicate government's intention to alleviate poverty', she said. The Agriculture Minister disclosed that her department has decided to establish a "seed village' in every development block area to provide seeds of good quality to farmers at affordable prices and distance.
