Sri Lanka will introduce new laws to combat marine pollution soon, following a recent oil spill at the country's biggest port, a senior government official said on Thursday. The Chairman of the Marine Pollution Prevention Authority (MPPA), Mr. Dhanapal Weerasekera, told Reuters in an interview that the government would soon introduce legislation to impose a levy on all ships entering the Colombo port to help finance clean-up operations.
