Colombo: Private Transport Minister of Sri Lanka C.B. Ratnayake says measures are to be taken to control the charges of private transport modes like three-wheelers, taxis and school vans to prevent the private transport provides from overcharging commuters. Explaining that private transport modes need to be regulated similar to private buses to safeguard the commuters, the Minister has said that a pricing formula would be introduced to the private transport systems. According to the Minister, complaints have been received on the exorbitant charges levied by three wheelers and school vans, which are in excess to the amount the fuel prices have been increased. The government initially decided to offer a fuel subsidy to three wheelers and school vans. However, the decision has now been reversed, the Minister has said.
