Governor Samroeng Punyopakorn yesterday said the imports would halt illegal logging in Thai forests. He expressed confidence there would be no recurrence of the Salween logging scandal involving sending Thai logs to Burma before being sent back to Thailand with Burmese stamp. Four Thai firms-Polpana, FA Pharmaceutical, B&F Goodrich and Thai-Korea Veterans' Welfare-have sought permission from the Forestry Department to import logs from Burma.
