Alarmed by the increase in planting of monoculture trees in Karnataka, the Centre has suggested to the State Government to take up spread growth of species which help keep environment unpolluted. Plantations in the southern region have promoted the growth of fast growing species which neither absorb carbondioxide nor give out oxygen.
