State first in NREGS execution

The minister for health and family welfare, Mr Sambhani Chandrasekhar, on Monday said the state stood first in the country in executing National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Addressing a meeting, Mr Chandrasekhar said that Khammam district achi-eved first place in the state in implementing the scheme in a successful way and about Rs 163 crore was spent for the purpose. He said that 1.5 lakh labourers have been getting wages under NREGS for the last 45 days. He said that it was not easy to provide employment in a massive way, but the district achieved the record. On medical aid to the poor, he said that the government introduced Arogya Sri and the scheme would be implemented in all the remaining districts from October 2. The minister said the government issued Aam Admi insurance certificates to 1.53 lakh poor in the district so far. "The Congress government provided food security to the poor by distributing rice at Rs 2 a kg,' he said. The Opposition leader, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, commenced Mee Kosam programme to deceive the people of the state once again by his false claims, but people are not ready to fall into the trap, he added. Assets worth Rs 16 crore have been distributed to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
