State gets award for agriculture

Hyderabad, Sept. 10: The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy has been selected for the prestigious "leadership award as best performing state in agriculture."
The Agriculture Leadership Awards Committee chose Andhra Pradesh for its excellent progress in the field of agriculture. The award will be conferred on the state at a ceremony in New Delhi on September 19.
Dr A.R. Kidwai, Governor of Haryana and chairperson of the awards committee informed this through a letter to the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
"This award is in recognition of the fact that under your dynamic leadership Andhra Pradesh has made excellent progress in the field of agriculture by initiating a series of policy measures and welfare programmes," Dr Kidwai said.
The leadership awards are instituted for recognising the excellence and leadership roles played by individuals, institutions and organisations towards the development of Indian agriculture.
The award ceremony is a part of the agriculture leadership summit which is organised under the chairmanship of eminent agriculture scientist Dr M S Swaminathan.
