State government to complaint against institute supplied inferior quality seeds

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state government would register complaint with the Consumer Forum against the institutions supplied inferior quality seeds. Chouhan reached the fields of farmers of Ghinochi Village in Chhattarpur district of Sagar division today and inspected condition of the Urad and Til crops. Chouhan talked with the farmers about condition of the crops.
While addressing a large number of farmers gathered there, Chouhan said 'You should not be worried. You are not responsible for the failure of your Urad and Til crops. The institutions which had supplied seeds to you are responsible for the failure. You should register complaint of cheating against the seeds provider institution at the police station. After that the state government will take up the matter with Consumer Forum as representative of the farmers to fight the legal battle and get you full compensation'.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will make amendment in the Revenue Book Circular 6 (4) and declare crop failure due to natural calamity to provide immediate relief to the farmers.
Chouhan directed the Commissioner of Sagar Division S K Ved to get survey of crop failure conducted in all five districts of the division and inform the state government so that the process to provide relief to the affected farmers shall be started. He instructed the I G Anvesh Mangalam to ensure that when the farmers go to the police stations to register complaint about supplying inferior quality seeds, they should not face any difficulties.
On this occasion Agriculture Minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria said that an institute of Government of India has supplied Urad and Til seeds to the farmers. On this, the chief minister said that he would take up the matter firmly with the Central Government and efforts would be made to get compensation equal to the amount of real price the farmers would get in the market for their produce.
It may be mentioned here that according to the preliminary survey sowing operations in 2 lakh 60 thousand 300 hectares of land were done in five districts of Sagar division by 40 thousand farmers. In Chhattarpur district only, 20 thousand farmers are affected and the loss to their crops is to the tune of Rs 6 crore 85 lakh.
