State level awards for promoting small industries

With a view to promoting small industries in the state, Commerce, Industry and Employment Department has instituted state level awards for small/micro industries. Under the scheme, awards would be given away to the small and micro units which adopt effective system for controlling pollution and conserving environment and pay taxes regularly. In all, three awards would be given away under the scheme. The three prizes entail cash prizes worth Rs 51 thousand, Rs 31 thousand and Rs 21 thousand respectively. State Industry and Employment Department has invited applications for the awards for the year 2007-08 from micro and small industries. Desirous units can get the application forms by June 15, 2008 from concerning District Commerce and Industry Centre. The filled-up forms can be submitted at the concerning District Commerce and Industry Centre by June 30, 2008. Only those units can take benefit of this award scheme, which are running for the last three years without a break. The application form must accompany a certificate that the applying industrial unit has been adopting effective system to check pollution and has taken initiative for conservation of environment by undertaking plantation. There must be no dues of government or financial institutions pending against the concerning unit. A tax defaulter industrial unit would be debarred from getting the award. Once a unit receives an award, it would be ineligible for applying for the award for the next three years. The state level committee would go through the applications for award received from various District Commerce and Industry Centres in Madhya Pradesh. Industry Commissioner would head this committee while its members would include Managing Director of Laghu Udyog Nigam, Director of Laghu Udyog Sewa Sansthan Indore, Regional Manger of Central Bank of India and representative of Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Sangh. On the committee's recommendation, Industry Minister would select the most eligible units for the awards. Total 100 marks have been earmarked for selection. Twenty marks would be given on the ratio of capacity of production and annual production. Fifteen marks each have been earmarked for percentage of profit on investment, quality control and productivity development, export-import and industrial management. Ten marks each have been earmarked for employees welfare and extension of benefits to local people as well as families displaced due to land acquisition.
