With around 140 acres of unique rainforest at Manthampotti that forms the corridor of the Silent Valley falling into private hands, the very existence of this natural treasure trove is being threatened. The area on the edge of the Silent Valley National Park, just 1 km away from its information centre at Mukkali, is said to be the only place in the world where Veteria macrocarpus trees are found.
