A day after wilting under pressure from the unionised taxi trade on retiring old polluting taxis, the government today put the introduction of Euro-I norms from July 1 in Calcutta on the back-burner, amid growing doubts about the seriousness of its planned campaign to curb environmental pollution from auto emission.
