Holding out an assurance to those affected by the Supreme Court order directing eviction of unauthorised cultivators of forest land, the State Government has announced that it will approach the court seeking reconsideration of it's order. Following the SC order, the Karnataka State Government was expected to evict all those in possession of forest land or unauthorisedly cultivating the same by May-end. The Cabinet, which met, deliberated on a sub-committee report in this regard and decided to protect the interests of farmers cultivating forest lands.
