The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to implement all the mandatory reforms prescribed by the Central Government for receiving funds under the Urban Renewal Mission. The State will get around Rs 1,500 crore for developing urban areas under three new schemes - Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP). Under JNNURM, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada cities have been selected. However, the State Government has urged the Centre to include Tirupati and Warangal also.
