State to have 10 new fire stations

State fire and emergency services department will set up ten new fire station across the state in the current financial year. State fire minister, Mr Pratim Chatterjee, anno-unced this on the sidelines of a "Fire Services Week' programme at Gouri Bari Fire station. The 10 new fire station will be at Dalkhola and at Kaliyaganj in North Din-ajpur,Ghatal (Midnapore), Egra (Midnapore), Hamil-tongung (North Bengal), Mirik (Darjeeling), Gobar-danga (North 24 Parganas), Canning (South 24 Parga-nas), Jadavpur and Rajar--hat. "Each fire station will come up at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. These fire stations have to keep at least 65 fire fighters each and we have to bear an extra burden of Rs 53 lakhs annually on salaries for eve-ry fire station' said Mr Chatterjee. Beside augmenting manpower in his depar-tment, Mr Chatterjee also stressed on generating awa-reness about fire prevention and safety. Mr Chatterjee further emphasised that every big corporate houses, multi storied residential complex, shopping mall must have adequate fire safety measures unless accident can't be averted. Mr Cha-tterjee said that
