The Madhya Pradesh Council for Science and Technology (MPCST) has been selected for the India Geospatial Leadership Award for the year 2012. The council has been selected for this national award for its special contribution in making Madhya Pradesh a Geospatial State.
Senior scientist and publicity in-charge Dhirendra Pandey said that the award is being given in two categories. Madhya Pradesh has been given the Premier Geospatial Leadership Award for its unique and new efforts in favour of Geospatial technology.
Recently, at the India Geospatial Forum's Gurgaon centre the MPCST was given the citation letter and memorial symbol by Natural Disaster Management Authority's vice-chairman M Shashidhar Reddy, at a function.
According to the citation letter, Madhya Pradesh is engaged in the usage of geospatial database of natural resources, basic conception, population counting and social financial favours.
The State Government has used this technology especially for forestry and non-commercial purposes and on this basis MP has been given recognition as the geospatial State for the year 2012.
In this context, on the occasion, council's director general Pramod K Verma thanked working scientists for performing admirably and said, “It is the result of your conscientiousness that Madhya Pradesh has bagged the ‘Premier Geospatial State Award’ for the year 2012.”
