Stir by cane farmers hits rail, road traffic

LUCKNOW: The rail and road traffic was badly hit in western UP on Monday when the farmers took to streets in protest against the low purchase prices of sugarcane fixed by the Centre and the state governments. The farmers blocked highways, damaged railway tracks, stopped trains and even set afire their crops in protest. Launched by RLD, the agitation was supported by all the farmers
