Almost entirely stripped of its forest cover after its bifurcation three years ago, Bihar now plans a massive greening of its desolate landscape. The state has ambitious plans to increase its forest cover from the existing 6.07 per cent to 35 per cent, that too within a decade. Bihar's forest cover shrank after Jharkhand was carved out of its southern districts and made into a separate state in 2000. All the thick jungles went to Jharkhand.
