Although Jalandhar sports good industry has missed major export orders on the issue of employment of child labour, a recent study suggests that children involved in sports good industry are better placed than those employed in other industries. The study also reveals that a concept of "double bonding" for child labour is prevalent in brick kiln industry, since not just the children but even their parents are bonded with the employer.
