Calling globalisation "the central challenge" faced by humankind, world leaders attendng the UN Millennium Summit have adopated a "visionary declaration" on the future role of the UN in promoting global peace. "We solemnly reaffirm, on this historic occasion, that the UN is the indispensable common house of the entire human family, through which we will seek our universal aspirations for peace, cooperation and development," the declaration said.
